Celebrity comedienne and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has interviewed literally thousands of celebrities during her seven year run as host of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. However, on Tuesday Novemeber 23, Ellen was talking turkey.
Celebrity talk show Ellen DeGeneres, in her new role as spokesperson for the Farm Sanctuary, a non profit charity organization, is encouraging all Americans to not just abstain from eating a turkey, but to adopt one as well.
Through the Farm Sanctuary website, for a donation of $30, people can officially adopt a turkey by choosing one of the turkeys being sponsored by the Farm Sanctuary. In turn, they will receive an adoption certificate along with a color picture of their newly adopted family member.
The Farm Sanctuary has been sponsoring the Adopt-A-Turkey Project since 1986, and has saved the lives of over 1,000 turkeys during that time.
The charity organization works to fight against the abuses at farm factories, and vehemently opposes the slaughtering of any farm animals.
Through education and advocacy, the Farm Sanctuary strongly urges people to live a vegan lifestyle, and continues to fight against the inhumane treatment of all farm animals through investiagation and prosecution.
Anyone wishing to save a turkey has until noontime on Wednesday November 24. Visit the Farm Sanctuary website for more details.
