Celebrity Athlete Fallout: The Brett Favre and Jenn Sterger Sexting scandal rages on

Celebrity athlete Brett Favre, quarterback of the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings and actor who made a cameo appearance in the hit movie There’s Something About Mary (with Generation X green celebrities Cameron Diaz, Matt Dillon, and Ben Stiller), threw his 500th career touchdown pass last night in the Vikings eventual loss to the New York Jets, Favre’s home for one season. However, during that one season, Favre allegedly was involved in a sexting scandal that went completely against his commercial image as a wholesome family man.

CELEBRITY ATHLETE BRETT FAVRE FACING SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS OF MISCONDUCT AFTER SEXTING SCANDAL REVEALED

Last night was supposed to be a shining moment in the fabulous career of celebrity athlete and NFL quarterback Brett Favre. Facing his old team, the New York Jets, Favre threw three touchdown passes, becoming the first player in history to throw 500 TD passes, and surpassed the 70,000 yard mark in passing yardage, also a record. However his team, the Minnesota Vikings, dropped the game to the Jets when Favre threw a crucial interception with 1:30 to go in the game, giving the Jets a 29-20 victory.

More importantly however, Favre is now the subject of an NFL investigation into charges that he sent racy messages and lewd photos to a Jets game hostess in 2008, while Favre was a member of the team — all things that fly in the face of his formerly squeaky clean reputation as the perfect boyfriend or husband for a nice girl.

While celebrity athlete Brett Favre may have thrown for more yards than anyone else in NFL history, his sexting scandal with Jenn Sterger may throw him for the ultimate loop.

The hostess, celebrity model and sideline reporter Jenn Sterger, was reported to have been sent a string of “sexting” messages from Favre, and even allegedly received “cock shots” from Favre’s cell phone.

Deadspin.com originally reported the story back in August, but the story has grown legs ever since, and celebrity athlete Favre is now on the hot seat after Deadspin posted a story last week which included several voicemails allegedly sent by Favre to Jenn Sterger.

Celebrity model Sterger rocketed to fame as a buxom Florida State Cowgirl back in 2005. She gained instant internet notoriety and fame, and parlayed that into a Maxim and Playboy photo shoot. She even wrote a “Confessions of a Cowgirl” article for Sports Illustrated.

In 2008, the New York Jets hired Sterger to be a sideline reporter, and it was during this time that celebrity athlete Favre’s interest grew into something…well…more.

It should also be noted that Favre has donated to several charity causes, including setting up the Brett Favre Fourward Foundation, which lends assistance to disadvantaged and disabled children in the Wisconsin and Mississippi areas, donating over $1.5 million in eight years. His wife, Deanna Favre, started the Deanna Favre Hope Foundation, which provides charity assistance to women who are underserved or underinsured in their battle against breast cancer.

In light of the recent article published by Deadspin, the NFL decided to look into the sexting scandal further.

“The first thing you want to do is find out the facts, and that’s what we’re trying to do,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said. “We’re trying to find out all the facts around it and then once we determine those facts, then we’ll determine what the next step is from there, if any.”

Speculation is that Favre will likely retire after this season, his 20th in the NFL. However, he pocketed over $7 million in endorsement deals last year, most notably with Wrangler, Prilosec, MasterCard and Nike.

Matt Delzell, group account director of Davie-Brown Talent, which ranks celebrity appeal, says of Favre, “You are talking about family-friendly brands that partnered with Brett and who believed he was the all-American, great family guy and country boy.”

A sexting scandal kind of throws that image out the window, eh?
